* improper grounding

* unshielded cables

* poor connections

* moving machines

It is obviously a good idea to eliminate or minimise the factors listed above. For example, we could install humidifiers to avoid low humidity conditions. When working on computer systems and related hardware we should attempt to take all reasonable precautions to minimise the risk of ESD.
